Zee News is a 24 hour Hindi news channel situated in Mumbai and it is a part of Zee News Ltd (ZNL). ZNL came into existence on 31st March, 2006. This Indian news channel gained popularity in a short span of time by reaching out to the masses with their news `Sabse Pehle.` The channel firmly believes in bringing forth truth to the people. This has been the guiding force behind Zee News while reporting unbiased news. Globally, Zee news has spread across most of Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas and has carved out a niche for itself in the global media space. The wide network of Zee News stretches out to more than 60 countries worldwide. Largest nationwide network of reporters and stingers connected through advanced communication links has made Zee News the first to break stories most of the time.
Zee News, the news and current affairs channel, is the oldest channel of Zee News Ltd, founded in 1992. It was the first 24-hour Hindi current affairs and news channel in the country. In spite of being the only pay channel in its genre, it maintains its position among the top three Hindi news channels in the country. In North India, Zee News is a strong contender for the number one position in the market. There was a brief pay strike in the May of 1993.
Zee News, presently, is a part of ZNL. Besides Zee News the latter also comprises Zee Telugu, Zee Tamil, Zee 24 Taas, Zee Business, Zee Kannada, 24 Ghanta, Zee Bangla, Zee 24 Ghantalu, Zee Marathi, etc. Barun Das is the CEO of ZNL while Zee TV was founded by Subhash Chandra. The most distinct news capsule, which only Zee News has, is the News Top 10, which packs in 70 nuggets from all spheres in 30 minutes everyday. The channel also has bulletins like Hindustan Humara - A Pan India bulletin covering news from all over India; Pehal - A programme that is based on social service and encourages it; Prime Time Special- A programme that features that day`s important events; and programmes like Bollywood Baazigar (aired daily at 7:30 pm) and Bole Toh Bollywood (Monday to Friday) that provide in-depth coverage of the world of Hindi cinema. Zee News is one step ahead of the usual television News reporting. The channel also covered the much hidden and scary life of the Aghori saints, Tantriks and other such hidden mysticism and by unleashing a program that shows this scary truth with `Kaal Kapaal Mahakaal`.
The channel has always been considered as a pioneer and a leader in the field of investigative journalism, with programming that go deeper and far beyond the usual News and current affairs programmes. Zee News` continuous search for truth has helped open the lid on many hidden truths besides winning acclaims and awards for Zee News. These included the revelation about synthetic milk made from urea; shampoo etc on The Inside Story, which won Zee News an Award at the New York Festivals, a first ever for India. Zee news has also been consistently winning awards like the EMMVIES 2004, Indian Telly Awards and The Indian Marketing Awards.

Zee News broadcasts tailored programmes in specific time slots catering to varied tastes of viewers, including News at 7, News at 8, Metro News, News at 9, Prime time, Din Bhar, World View, and Beyond Headlines. In spite of being the only pay channel in the cluster of news channels, Zee News has been successful in maintaining a steady position. Zee News for the Asia region is uplinked from Noida in India and uses Asiasat-3S while the UK playout is done from London and uses the BskyB platform.
